Last year, I stumbled upon a local monthly Meetup group for crafters: Craft Bar. I liked the group’s Facebook page and set a goal to check out an event. Almost a year later, I made my first visit, recruiting a few friends to join in on the fun. October’s session, “Hey Gourdgeous,” (cute, right?) was all about festively celebrating fall. Craft Bar partnered with Etsy Meet & Make to offer up some spooktacular craft projects. For a donation of $5.00 we had access to supplies, snacks and (most importantly) support from fellow crafters. :)
As attendees, we were invited to hand stitch paneled fabric pumpkins; resurrect matchboxes into “Day of the Dead” mini coffins using decoupage techniques; decorate mini pumpkins with stickers, ribbons and embellishments and sew fabric, Halloween-themed mini bags. To create my mini bag, I got the chance to sit behind a sewing machine. (I hadn’t powered a machine peddle since middle school days!) I snapped a few shots of some of the wickedly awesome projects in progress.
Thanks to the super friendly hosts and volunteer instructors. I’ll be back, Craft Bar!
